Margaret Adams was a grumpy old woman. She was nasty to everyone and always made them feel small. And she certainly didn't believe in any holidays.
"Ding Dong" the bell rang. "Trick or treat!" they shouted as the door opened. The children stood there eagerly with their little black sack ready for sweets.
"Eugh! I hate children! Why don't you do a magic trick and get off my doorstep!" Margaret fumed.
"I know a magic trick Mrs Adams" One child said dressed as a devil. He waved his fork and 'poof' she was gone! Or was she!?
The children laughed and ran off. Shortly after Margaret's husband arrived home. 'Squish!' .... "Damn grasshoppers" he said.
Little did he know that Margaret had been shrunk with a magic spell. I think you can guess what the squish was. Now it was her turn to feel small!

Nice take on the prompt to have a grown up that doesn't like Halloween or trick-or-treaters.
Best wishes,

Very cute!
so old grumpy ladies go squish instead of crunch? Good to know! Very fun read!
That was a good one...(and don't ya wish we really did have a magic wand every now and then when we'd love nothing more than to shrink someone down to size..?).
I loved this!
Boy, that would be a handy trick to know LOL. Loved your take on the prompt. Kat
Excellent, I loved it!
Oooo! How creepy! Great idea though. I have a list of people for that treatment! ;)
what a good start to this weeks entries love it
I almost did something similar but I'm glad I didn't. Yours was really clever. I never would have thought of the magic. Great, unexpected thing to happen the woman.
Well done!
within the pages
serves the old grump right
A proper fate for her, under the circumstances!
Nice job!
=)
Oh poor little grasshopper . ding dong the witch is dead lol .
I guess she got her just desserts... even though the kids didn't get their dessert! : )
That's one for a campfire story. Although you know, Margaret was probably adopted and resented being an unwanted child. She just needed some love! :D ~Ames
Oooh, she got squished! :-)
Nice use of the prompt.
Cute story! I need one of those magic wands! LOL!
Maybe next time the grumpy old lady won't leave her front light on so trick or treaters won't ring the bell. Gotta love old lady stories! ;)
Oh man, that little squish was one that man will regret...but hey, a grump shouldn't even answer the door on halloween!
I loved this! Nice twist!
LOL! Eeewww... Love that one.
OMG! that caught me off guard. Terrific writing.
Great take! Nice when the trick really works on a Halloween Grinch!
