SATURDAY CENTUS: Lost

Jenny Matlock
Saturday Centus is a short story theme where you are given a different prompt each week, and have to work it into your story. Here is my short story:

Making her way through the dark passages. The only light she could see was from the full moon outside. The only noise she could hear was the creaking door noises - from the wind perhaps? .. maybe.

"Lara are you in here?". She paused staring at every corner she could make out, every shadow she could see. "Laaaarrra". You could feel the fear in her voice the second time she called as it trembled with fear.

A baby's cry could be faintly heard in the distance. she followed the sound to what appeared to a children's ward. Lara was standing facing the wall singing in a disturbing tone "Hush little baby, don't you cry"...

Tina, this is creepy in so many ways - the darkness of the mental ward? - the faint sounds and creaking doors - the disturbing words to such a peaceful song. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone! Great work.

Namaste..........cj

Eerie. Is she insane? Or dreaming? I was sort of trembling with her while she was looking for her. Creepy but good!~Ames

This creeped me out.

In such a good way.

I could hear the scary music swelling up in the background...and oh my, I wanted to cover my ears from the eerie sing I heard so clearly in my mind.
